With classes not starting back up until February, breaks are a rare opportunity to actually breathe, reset, and make the most of the time we don’t have during the semester. Instead of letting it slip by, I am planning to make the most of this break by keeping myself busy, balancing rest, personal interests, and preparation for the spring semester.

    What Made K-dramas Blow Up?

    April 22, 2024 /

Korean dramas, or K-Drama for short, are the powerhouse of Korean media and influence, and their popularity has grown immensely over the years. As a Korean myself, I grew up religiously watching Korean dramas with my mom. We would sit in the living room and for hours, watch romance, mystery, and sometimes thriller K-Dramas together. I recall in middle school when I was asked about my favorite show. I had talked about a popular Kdrama at that time, and…

    April 22, 2024 /

Dear Past and Future Me, I sit down to write this letter currently at the age of 20 years, 6 months, and 26 days. I find myself in a moment of reflection, caught between the memories of my past and the expectations of my future. At 20 years old, I stand on the threshold of adulthood as well as feeling like a child. I have thoughts of unrealistic dreams of the future like a child, but harsh realities headed my adult life. A Film That Will Make You Reminisce on Your Past and Future

    April 22, 2024 /

Today I finally watched a film that I had been meaning to watch months back. Past Lives has been on my watch list for a long time, not solely due to its intriguing Korean female perspective or the praised cinematography, but primarily because of the overwhelming relatability that I've heard it possesses to many peoples’ own life experiences. Asian Characters That Represented My Childhood

    April 2, 2024 /

Growing up as an Asian American, there was not much representation in popular media. Each time a character that slightly resembled me popped up on my TV screen, I would get so excited with a bright smile. I felt like I could relate to these characters and believed that a piece of my background was appreciated in American culture. Thankfully, as more time has passed, Asian representation in movies and TV Shows has become more prevalent. However, this does not mean that I have forgotten the Asian characters that I grew up with. With a deep connection to each one of them, I would like to share the Asian characters…
