Why I’m Seeking Justice For Chinese Americans
My parents left their homes in China to pursue American freedoms, opportunities, and an education at the University of Delaware. Here is the American Dream in action. Yet, a nightmare is unfolding for many Chinese Americans today, one that threatens the very same ideals that led my parents across the Pacific Ocean.

A Piece of Self-Discovery in Spain
Understanding your true self takes time; for me, it took years. It was the vagueness of it all that sparked my anxiety: having no direction in life and feeling lost within the constraints of my own mind. You would think that even with large academic and long-term goals, I would feel more satisfied in fulfilling them with “ease,” but I continued to struggle with the idea of commitment and the thought that my dreams would somehow turn into reality.

My Experience On APSA’s New York Trip
On December 3, 2022 APSA held their annual New York City trip. This was my first time going on the trip though, so I was a little nervous. Before this trip, I had never been on a school trip in college. This seemed like a good opportunity though, it was only for a day and it was free. Well, I had to make a down payment of $10 just to secure a spot on the list, but afterwards they gave the money back. Melanie Gasmen is a junior at the University of Delaware with a major in visual communications. This year, she designed FSA’s first ever tote bag, which has become a staple in my wardrobe ever since. You can take it with you on your next shopping trip, or gift to a friend!

An Unforeseen Lineage
As amazing as it is to have so many prominent Asian female idols in history and the media, sometimes the ones who empower us the most are those from our everyday lives. Before coming to the University of Delaware, so many students like me grew up in predominantly white communities, and we did not really have mentors that we related to culturally. I never thought that one day, I would find a group of women just like me who once felt the same way.
