How I Felt Moving Away from my Asian Parents

    October 4, 2022 /

Today is September 20th, 2022, almost a month since I left home. It’s been a while since I moved away and I miss it, but at the time I don’t miss it at all. Self Love in the Age of Social Media

    March 7, 2022 /

Nowadays, it’s become second nature to open a social media app and scroll past a series of flawless people, places, and things. Having this kind of pressure shoved down our throats 24/7 can really do a number on our mental health—I’ve found myself down a rabbit hole of jealousy and self-deprecation too many times to count. But the real question—and the one I believe we should be focusing on—is how do we learn to just be content in our own field?

Julia’s POV: Balancing School and Mental Health

    February 28, 2022 /

Have you ever wondered what goes on in the mind of a seemingly exceptional and talented individual? The one you’d consider to be a “try hard”, or maybe the “teacher’s pet” that received neverending compliments and appraisal for their high quality work? Simply speaking, I was that person from when I started my first day of kindergarten until now. Perfectionism coursed through my veins.

Spotlighting Melanie Gasmen: Asian Creators on Campus

    November 12, 2021 /

November is highly associated with Black Friday deals and early holiday shopping, I thought it would be nice to show an ethical, great quality product made by one of my closest friends here at UD, Melanie Gasmen. Melanie Gasmen is a junior at the University of Delaware with a major in visual communications. This year, she designed FSA’s first ever tote bag, which has become a staple in my wardrobe ever since. You can take it with you on your next shopping trip, or gift to a friend!

The Love Story of Hou Yi and Chang’e – A Mid-Autumn Moon Legend

    November 2, 2020 /

Submitted by Julia Sayco Since ancient times, the Mid-autumn Moon Festival, a celebration of spiritual growth and change, has become an endearing part of the lives of many families in Southeast Asia. Both children and adults are enriched through a sense of unity and love by honoring the full-harvest moon and its nourishing light. In relation to what many consider as an “American Thanksgiving,” this time frame centralizes the importance of gathering together through recognition of the seasonal harvest. While the holiday is well-known for its countless festivities, familial customs, and cultural traditions including the eating of fluffy mooncakes, the lighting of lanterns, and the peaceful viewing of the flowing…
