Food is really important to me in my household, and after being in college the past couple of years, it really made me realize how much I miss my family, but whenever I feel this way there are some foods that bring me back.

How to Joke Like a Filipino
As a Filipina raised by both sets of grandparents, I learned the ways in which my family interacted with each other. Of course the gossiping was always a given, but jokes, especially told in Tagalog, were much more entertaining to us. I’m not bilingual by all means, but I do, however, understand the hilarious conversation amongst them. Learning cultural humor is something that I’ve been trying to immerse myself in more, so impressing others with these skills in their native language is an opportunity to grow closer with others and share in the laughter together.

The Best Show about Pranks
Out of the many tv shows that my sister could put me on, a show that took me by surprise was a show about these 4 guys who pull pranks on each other and in public. Impractical Jokers is by far one of the funniest shows I’ve ever seen. It’s about these 4 guys (Sal, Q, Murr, and Joe) who challenge each other to do dares in public, and the person to lose the most challenges has to do a final “punishment” at the end.

My NYC Spring Break Trip Recap
Originally I was supposed to go to Cancun with 30+ brothers in my fraternity, but sadly I wasn’t able to afford the trip from my semester expenses. Growing Up as the Youngest Child From an Immigrant Family
Being the youngest child, I have heard quite a few many stereotypes. We are known to be spoiled, attention-seeking, and even manipulative. Although I can’t confirm if I fit into these stereotypes myself, I do know that I would rather be the youngest child than the oldest, and that’s because of my brother.

My “Least Favorite” Filipino Food
Growing up, I was lucky enough to have parents who raised me on authentic Filipino food. From eating tapsilog, bulalo, lumpia, pancit, giniling, and so much more, their cooking was the reason why I was so experimental with food when I was younger. It was always surprising to the adults around me when my brother and I would willingly eat vegetables, or if I would gladly take a bite of something that was notoriously suited for an adult palate. However, there was one food in particular that would make me draw the line: Chicken Tinola.

Best Food to Throw During a Food Fight
Food fights were always shown in American movies as a rebellious, but thrilling event to happen in school cafeterias. Interestingly enough, this is actually part of Spanish Culture, as they have two very popular annual food fight festivals called La Merenga, where desserts, like meringue, are mainly thrown, and La Tomatina, where tomatoes are thrown, that date back to 1945.1 In the following article, I’ll be listing out five other foods that I think would be the best to throw during a food fight and a few reasons why.
