Female Asian Influencers To Look Out For!

Submitted by Sabrina Lee

This generation is known to be heavily influenced by what they see on social media, and especially by those who they follow. Otherwise known as influencers, these social media stars are all over Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube, creating content ranging from lifestyle/beauty, fitness, music, and more. Check out some of my favorite Asian influencers who are empowering other women in their field and are incredible role models for young girls everywhere!

Beauty/Lifestyle

Weylie Hoang [@weylie]

Weylie Hoang is a Chinese-American YouTuber that is best known for her beauty/lifestyle videos. Many of her videos are also focused on giving her subscribers, or sisters, advice on growing up and speaking about things that young girls may ask an older sister. As a Chinese-American, Weylie is very proud of her Chinese heritage and is always showing her viewers how to make traditional Cantonese food! Because of her love for fashion, she became a co-founder of womn., a female-focused apparel brand that makes limited runs of conscious clothing. Not only this, but Weylie has also collaborated with Physicians Formula to create “Butter Collection X Weylie Hoang,” a limited edition blush/bronzer palette.

Jenn Im [@imjennim]

Jenn Im is a Korean-American fashion/beauty vlogger who was born and raised in Los Angeles. Her primary platform is on YouTube, and she also serves as the founder of her own clothing brand, Eggie. Otherwise known by many of her subscribers as Clothes Encounters, Jenn’s lifestyle/beauty/fashion videos are fun, fresh, and honest. As a proud Korean-American, Jenn often shares easy Korean recipes and family traditions with her viewers.

Michelle Phan [@michellephan]

Michelle Phan is a Vietnamese-American that is best known for being a pioneer of the beauty genre on YouTube back in 2007. With over 8.86 million subscribers, Phan shares different makeup tutorials and lifestyle videos with her fans. After years of being on YouTube, she finally began her own cosmetics line, Em Cosmetics, along with several other projects like Thematic, which provides copyright free music for YouTube videos. Michelle Phan is famously known for ending all of her videos with the line “good luck,” because she believes that all her followers are in control of their own destiny and can create their own luck.

Fitness

Kris Hui [@sanfrankrisco]

Kris Hui, a Korean-American born and raised in San Francisco, is a YouTuber focused on creating lifestyle, fitness, makeup, and fashion-based videos. As a recent graduate from San Jose State University, Hui is incredibly relatable especially if you are a college student. Not only does she motivate viewers to take care of their bodies and live life to the fullest, but she is also passionate about educating them on fitness and health related topics.

Linda Sun [@lindasunyt]

Linda Sun is a Chinese-American YouTuber that absolutely loves everything fitness-related. Although only joining YouTube back in May 2020, Sun instantly became popular during the pandemic as people were looking for motivation to stay fit and healthy. With over 641,000 subscribers, Linda is the kind of influencer you need in your life if you’re starting your own fitness journey! She is incredibly relatable to many of her young subscribers and continues to share with viewers that you can still eat ice cream and cookies, and lead a healthy lifestyle.

Cassey Ho [@blogilates]

Better known as Blogilates, Cassey Ho is a Chinese-Vietnamese American YouTuber with the #1 female fitness channel on the platform. As a certified fitness instructor, Ho has loved motivating viewers so much that she even created POP Pilates®. Cassey has focused less on the way we look, but rather be fueled by our own passion and empowerment to change the way we feel. During quarantine, Cassey’s videos were some of my favorite go-to’s!
