Asian-Representative Halloween Costume Ideas

The end of October is right around the corner, and as much as I love Christmas like everyone else, my second favorite holiday has to be Halloween. Halloweekend is a popular period for young teens and adults to dress up as their favorite characters, animals, and themes. Whether you party with friends, take pictures of your outfits, or simply enjoy watching horror movies at home, Halloween is a versatile day for people to have fun. I especially love dressing up with friends, and this year, I did not skimp on finding the perfect costume. As a proud Asian, I try to dress up in Asian-representative outfits. 1. Ken, from Barbie (Simu Liu)
The popular Barbie movie came out in the summer of this year, and one of the most memorable parts I remember when watching it was the amazing acting by Simu Liu as Ken. Simu Liu is one of my favorite actors, and him representing one of the only East-Asian characters in the movie was fun to see. To dress like him, you simply need his Hawaiian set of a button down shirt and shorts while rocking a pink surfboard.
2. Evelyn Wang, from Everything Everywhere All at Once
Everything Everywhere All at Once is an Academy Award winning movie that came out in 2022. This movie made me and numerous others cry their hearts out. This entertaining, funny, and emotional movie was relatable to many Asian people. Its inventive and clever feature that incorporates awesome martial arts, a bit of Chinese culture visually attracted many audiences, so I guarantee most people would get the costume if you were to dress up as Evelyn Wang! Just grab a red vest, a flower-pattern “grandma” shirt, purple pants, fake blood, and one googly eye to complete the look!
3. Mindy Lahiri, from The Mindy Project
Mindy Kaling is an influential and talented Indian-American actress and screenwriter, and has worked on many award-winning projects and shows for years. The Mindy Project is a popular American romantic-comedy television series created by and starring Mindy Kaling. Her character in this show is iconic, and one with amazing and recognizable outfits. Rock her most recognizable fit by wearing a hot pink bodycon dress with a lab coat, stethoscope, glasses, and hot pink heels to look just like her!
4. Satoru Gojo, from Jujutsu Kaisen
Jujutsu Kaisen is a very popular action anime series featuring many iconic characters such as Gojo, Yuji, Toge, and many more. However, the most popular character from this series has to be Satoru Gojo. His striking white hair and unique blindfold lingers in the minds of many JJK watchers, and some also would agree he is the most attractive character. If you would like to attract some attention, dress up in a white short-haired wig, black blindfold, black round-framed glasses, and an all-black fit!
