Submitted by Angelina Ng

When on a long flight, there are only so many snacks we can eat and bathroom runs we can have. A great way to pass the time would be to watch movies on an airplane. Although there is only a limited selection, most airlines in the U.S. have movies with action, comedy, horror, and romance. Many are uplifting or can give you an intense crying session. Here’s a list of entertaining movies to occupy your time on a long plane ride!

Crazy Rich Asians (2018)

A movie full of fun, comedy, drama, romance, and entertainment. It showcases stunning visuals: including the vibrant and lush scenery of Singapore and their extravagant parties. It will definitely keep you engaged throughout a flight. The two-hour film has an amazing cast representing Asians in Hollywood starring Constance Wu, Henry Golding, Akwafina, and many more familiar faces. Its contemporary and representative style with an upbeat tone can offer some distraction from the plane ride!

Avengers Infinity War (2018) & Avengers Endgame (2019)

Both films occur back-to-back in the Marvel Cinematic Universe timeline with over five hours of runtime, watching beloved superheroes like Iron Man, Captain America, and Thor will keep you distracted from a long airplane ride. It’s action-packed with popular actors and amazing production. These films will have you laughing and shedding a tear in your seat.

Top Gun (1986)

A classic 80s film starring Tom Cruise and aviation-themed for your airplane ride. This movie is centered around aerial combat, training, high-flying jets, and action that can truly make your flight feel more exciting. Even on a small airplane screen, the visuals of fighter jets and their maneuvers are extremely impressive and keep your attention.

The Fault in Our Stars (2014)

An emotionally inspiring film that resonates deeply with viewers. Two teenagers trying to navigate life while fighting a battle with cancer. The film actors, Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort, create amazing chemistry with their characters and draw you forward to their world. This film is perfect for those who are seeking a moving experience during their flight. However, be prepared to ask the flight attendants for some tissues!

Parasite (2019):

Parasite is an outstanding Korean thriller film that perfectly captures drama, dark humor, intricate plot twists, and emotional suspense. With a little over a two-hour runtime, its narrative will make time fly by, and its cinematography and scenery will add to the suspenseful experience. Some of the cast include Lee Sun-kyun, Cho Yeo-jeong, and Park So-dam.
