Food fights were always shown in American movies as a rebellious, but thrilling event to happen in school cafeterias. Interestingly enough, this is actually part of Spanish Culture, as they have two very popular annual food fight festivals called La Merenga, where desserts, like meringue, are mainly thrown, and La Tomatina, where tomatoes are thrown, that date back to 1945.1 In the following article, I’ll be listing out five other foods that I think would be the best to throw during a food fight and a few reasons why.
1. Watermelon
The juice and texture will spread everywhere, making a bigger mess on the target.
Lots of ammunition to use coming from one watermelon (if it’s cut up).
Con: heavy if you throw the whole fruit, uncut.
2. Meatloaf
The consistency makes it easy to throw and easily gross out the opposing end.
Will also make a big mess.
Con: not always available as ammunition.
3. Spaghetti and Meatballs
The sliminess of the noodles + sauce and the surprising element of spaghetti creates a double threat to the target.
Funny to find random noodles stuck to people.
Meatballs would explode upon impact.
Con: will get very slippery and the meatballs could be a bit hard.
4. Snowcones
Particularly useful during the summer, if available.
Will be sticky because of the syrup.
Will be cold and a bit hard upon impact, giving an element of fear.
Con: could stain clothes and skin.
5. Cake
Lots of ammunition depending on the size of the cake
Icing and crumbs will effectively stay on the target
Different toppings on the cake could add an element of surprise.
Con: commonly seen at weddings and birthdays so it’s a bit basic to use, lit candles could burn or stab somebody.
