2026 Senior Spotlight: Will Chen
Hey guys, this is Will Chen. For those of you who do not know me, I am a senior here at UD, double-majoring in finance and business analytics. In the past four years, I’ve been actively involved on campus through organizations such as AAPC.
It’s bittersweet to be writing this article, as it will be one of my last. With graduation coming up, I’ve been looking back at the time I spent here and reminiscing about how much I’ve grown since freshman year. There have been ups and downs. I wouldn’t say college has exactly been easy, but it’s been an experience where I learned a lot about myself. As a freshman, I was someone who liked to keep to myself. However, through the people I’ve met at UD, I’ve learned to step out of my comfort zone and embrace new experiences.
One of the most important lessons I learned is not to lose sight of who you are. It’s very easy to follow other people to fit in. But in doing so, you’ll become absorbed in other people’s lives and eventually lose focus on what makes you happy. College is all about finding who you are as a person. Prioritize what makes you you. I haven’t fully found a definitive answer yet, but I can share what I’ve discovered so far.
For me, what makes Will Will, is my belief that you stop living once you stop growing. There is so much life to live and so much to pursue. With endless possibilities in the world, there are endless possibilities of who I can become. My goal in life is to become the best version of myself. I’m not sure what that looks like yet, but each day brings me one step closer. Take the time to have fun, but also take the time to reflect on what you want in life. There is no right or wrong answer, but to define your self-identity is one of the most important things you can do in college.
Closing this chapter of my life is difficult, but every story must have an ending. I close this door knowing that, sadly, there are some people I may not get a chance to speak to again. And that is something I have come to accept. It hurts that this is reality, but I say goodbye to the APIDA community here at UD with a smile on my face and wish everyone the very best.
What lies next for me is a blank canvas, and I’m not quite sure what to expect. After graduation, I’ll be moving to Seattle to start the next chapter of my life. I’m excited and look forward to the challenges that await. As I step into this new phase, I ask for your support and hope you can continue to cheer me on.
One last thing, if you’re a familiar face and we cross paths, don’t hesitate to say hi. I’d love to catch up.
Don’t be a stranger!
